Learning jiu-jitsu in Hauts-de-Seine

This guide covers the 19 rooms of Hauts-de-Seine, the western crescent from Boulogne-Billancourt and Issy up to La Défense, Nanterre, and Clichy. Cross the Périphérique and the free trial comes back — and with it the suburbs' signature fence, residency pricing, at its sharpest in Courbevoie: the annual rate runs +50% without proof of local domicile. For someone just starting, the real question is not "which academy is best" but "which one fits me."

BLR Jiu-Jitsu

Who this academy suits

The GFTeam room of the southern 92, with the credentials printed plainly: a 2nd-degree black belt who is a reigning IBJJF European champion and the CFJJB's head of refereeing, a Sunday fundamentals class open to all belts, and lunchtime no-gi twice a week. The year costs 300€ all-in (290€ for residents — a 10€ delta where neighboring towns charge up to +50%). The one hoop: trials and sign-ups both run through the MAAT app, so your first class starts with a request, not a walk-in

Why we say it: Affiliation, both professors' palmarès, the seven-session week, MAAT trial gating and the 290/300€ prices are all the club's own published copy (blrjj.com, read in full 2026-08-06)

Grappling Gennevilliers (GGLL)

Grappling Gennevilliers (GGLL)

Who this academy suits

The strongest September door in the north-west suburbs: one free trial session per discipline, no conditions, all month — and behind it a club that publishes a first-year-specific BJJ program with dedicated beginner slots (Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon) on a belt-coded timetable. The season costs a flat 350€ whether you are a beginner or not. Two things to plan around: from October the trial becomes request-only, and BJJ classes require the club's own GGLL gi

Why we say it: The September window, first-year program, beginner slots, 350€ season price and GGLL-gi rule are all the club's own published copy (grappling-gennevilliers.com, fetched 2026-08-06)

Infinity La Défense

Who this academy suits

The free-trial door of the business district: a no-commitment 'cours d'essai gratuit' booked in two clicks on the network's own page, at the network's flagship centre a short walk from the La Défense towers. The Full-Infinity plan (91€/month + 41€ licence at sign-up, never before) also unlocks the Nanterre and Paris 7e rooms — useful if your week moves between office and city — and the centre publishes a dated summer regime instead of closing for August. Women and police/military get 10% off

Why we say it: Trial wording and pricing are the network's own pages (JS-widget wording at its 2026-08-02 capture; trial-room list, inscription copy and the dated summer regime re-confirmed on the 2026-08-06 fetches)

Infinity Nanterre Université

Who this academy suits

The campus room: Infinity's Nanterre centre trains inside the Université Paris Nanterre sports halls (bâtiment H omnisports / SUAPS), with a free no-commitment trial bookable on the network's own page. For a student or anyone living along the RER A west, it is the cheapest way into the network's three-room ecosystem — the Full-Infinity plan (91€/month + 41€ licence at sign-up) covers Nanterre, La Défense and Paris 7e alike, with 10% off for women and police/military

Why we say it: The campus venue prose, trial-selector presence and Full-Infinity coverage are the network's own pages (fetched 2026-08-06); trial wording and the 91€/41€ figures carry their 2026-08-02 JS-widget capture

MB Academy 92 / Randori Issy

MB Academy 92 / Randori Issy

Who this academy suits

The busiest published timetable in the south-west inner suburbs: six days of adult JJB and grappling under a 4th-degree black belt who is a state-certified coach, spread over four venues — including a Tuesday class inside Paris 16e, useful if you straddle the city line. The price is itemized to the euro (401€ all-in on the association's page, 410€ on the coach's — both printed) and a trial path exists via the site's COURS D'ESSAI menu, terms on request. Budget for the house rule: MB Academy-branded rashguard and kimono are obligatory

Why we say it: The six-day schedule, four venues, itemized pricing on both own sites, the trial nav and the branded-kit rule are all the clubs' own published copy (randori-issy.fr + mbacademy.org, checked 2026-08-06); the 401€/410€ discrepancy is quoted, not resolved

Raça Luta BJJ

Raça Luta BJJ

Who this academy suits

The inner suburbs' lunchtime room: every class runs 12:15–13:30, Monday through Saturday, alternating gi BJJ weeks with luta livre weeks under a rare double black belt (4th degree BJJ, 3rd degree luta livre). The trial is insured through the venue, comfortable clothes are enough, and joining is possible any month of the year at flat 45–79€ monthly plans. A fit for someone who trains on a lunch break — and only then: there are no evening classes

Why we say it: Schedule, alternation pattern and prices are the club's own published copy (checked 2026-08-06); the trial policy, insurance wording and coach bio are the venue's own JJB page (checked 2026-08-06)

Section Clamart JJB

Section Clamart JJB

Who this academy suits

The cleanest free-trial door in the inner-west suburbs: the first class is free, shorts and a T-shirt are enough, and sign-ups run all year. Behind the trial sits a municipal-club price — 255€ for the season with the 46€ licence already inside it (+10% if you live outside Clamart) — and three IBJJF-certified black belts splitting five weekly sessions, including a midday no-gi class. A fit for a beginner who wants a no-risk first step and association-priced training

Why we say it: The free-trial banner, gear wording, bundled-licence price, +10% non-resident rate and the three-black-belt bench are all the section's own published copy (clamart-jjb.fr, pages stamped 2026-06, fetched 2026-08-06)

It differs by academy. Entries show where a fundamentals program and first-visit process are verified. For the rest, check with the academy before visiting. For what a first class actually feels like, see the beginner posts on our blog.
