Learning jiu-jitsu in Zürich
This guide covers Zürich proper — Oerlikon across to Altstetten and Albisrieden — on one page. Three full entries, and three different registers. Cypher Jiu Jitsu at Grundstrasse 24, Altstetten, prints the strongest first-visit offer in this roster: «Our complimentary trial week … all at no cost» — a whole free week, not a class. BJJ Lab Zürich at Hagenholzstrasse 65, Oerlikon, prints a two-mat weekday grid as text (Fundamentals Gi and Nogi from 07:00, sessions to 21:00) and gives a beginner both «A Structured 5-Week Course» and a free trial — with a loaner uniform for the first class. 360 Martial Arts at Albisriederstrasse 226, Albisrieden, is honest about demand — «Probetrainings sind daher nur nach Voranmeldung möglich», trials by pre-registration — and prints its full rates instead (BJJ at CHF 800 for six months, CHF 1'500 for the year). Two of the three sites read in English. For someone just starting, the real question is not "which academy is best" but "which one fits me."
What a first visit costs in Zürich
Of the 3 academies this guide covers, 2 print a free first class with no condition, 0 a free one with a condition, 0 print a price for it, 1 say to book and find out, 0 publish enrolment or enquiry details without a trial offer, and 0 have no readable first-visit terms.
Fewer than 5 academies have a published monthly rate included in the study, so this hub does not show a median.
Ask before you go
- Is the first class free for a visitor, or only for someone who intends to join?
- Is a gi lent for the first class, and what does one cost to buy?
- What does a month cost without a contract, and is there a joining fee?

360 Martial Arts
Who this academy suits
The priced door of the belt-and-glove house: 360 Martial Arts at Albisriederstrasse 226 runs BJJ and grappling beside MMA and Thaiboxen — and it is the only room in this roster that prints its rates in full: BJJ at CHF 800 for six months, CHF 1'500 for the year, on its own price page. The first visit is honest about demand: «Momentan sind unsere Klassen sehr gut besucht. Probetrainings sind daher nur nach Voranmeldung möglich» — book the Probetraining ahead, by mail or the form, and the printed phone answers questions
Why we say it: The address, phone, the Probetraining condition and the CHF grid are the club's own published site content (home + /probetraining/ + /preise/), fetched 2026-08-27; the MMA-gym-with-BJJ line is the local directory's and stays attributed (§10.10)

BJJ Lab Zürich
Who this academy suits
The structured door of Zürich: BJJ Lab at Hagenholzstrasse 65, by the Oerlikon rail hub, publishes the fullest week in this roster — a two-mat grid printed as text, Fundamentals Gi and Nogi from 07:00, Drilling alongside, sessions to 21:00 — and gives a beginner two printed ways in: «A Structured 5-Week Course» for basics, or a free trial first, «We'll even lend you a clean uniform for your first class». The site itself runs in English, which makes it the easiest door in the city to read for a visitor. Prices live behind the Prices page — write to the printed address and ask
Why we say it: The address, email, hours, the two-mat grid, the free-trial and 5-week-course bytes are the club's own published site content (home + /bjj-for-beginners/ + /schedule/), fetched 2026-08-27; the beginner-friendly line is the club's own satellite directory and stays attributed (§10.10)

Cypher Jiu Jitsu
Who this academy suits
The free-week door: Cypher Jiu Jitsu at Grundstrasse 24, Altstetten — «Kleine BJJ Schule», a small gi-and-no-gi room by its own directory's telling — prints the strongest first-visit offer in this roster: «Our complimentary trial week allows you to attend classes, meet our experienced instructors, and connect with fellow students, all at no cost». A whole week, not a class. The site reads in English end to end. Times and prices are the questions for the printed email — ask as you book your week
Why we say it: The address, email and the free-week sentences are the club's own published home-page bytes, fetched 2026-08-27; the small-school line is the local directory's and stays attributed (§10.10)

How do I book a trial class?
It differs by academy. Where we could verify the booking method, it is listed under "Your first visit" in that academy's entry; otherwise, asking through the academy's official channel is the most reliable route.
I'm a complete beginner. Can I just show up?
It differs by academy. Entries show where a fundamentals program and first-visit process are verified. For the rest, check with the academy before visiting. For what a first class actually feels like, see the beginner posts on our blog.
