Concepts

Each post under this tag tries to do one thing: take a single idea from the mat and turn it over until it makes sense to someone like me, which means someone with no grappling background and a deep suspicion that everyone else got a manual I did not.

A concept post is not a tutorial. I am in no position to teach anything. What I can do is document the moment an idea stopped being a word coaches say and started being a thing my body believes: the day base became something you take rather than something you have, the day I understood why my arms kept dying in round two.

If you learn the way I do, by needing the why before the what sticks, this is your pile. The featured order is the order the ideas connect: balance, base, frames, breath, and one strange-looking decision explained. The glossary posts under the beginner tag pair well with all of it.
