Learning jiu-jitsu in Porto Alegre

Porto Alegre is the guide's third Brazilian metro, and it is the registry city: the state federation, FJJ-RS, publishes a current-year list of its member academies with a street address and a named black-belt professor for every room — the richest state instrument this research has read in Brazil. The visitor language here splits in two: the free aula experimental (Alliance Cavalhada prints «Aula Experimental Grátis» outright) and the Guigo network's own register, «Marcar aula gratuita» — while the priced diária that defines São Paulo's Alliance pages appears nowhere in this metro; rooms here answer money questions on WhatsApp. We cover the metro in three areas: the south, the centre-north, and the towns — Canoas, Alvorada, Esteio and Novo Hamburgo. Each gets the same treatment: verified facts per academy, no rankings, and the evidence behind every claim.

  • The south 7 academies

    Cavalhada and Ipanema through Tristeza — where Alliance Cavalhada's trial is free in the room's own words («Aula Experimental Grátis»), booked over WhatsApp, and MFT Lutas runs jiu-jitsu beside Muay Thai and MMA.

  • The centre-north 7 academies

    Santana and Passo D'Areia — the city's two official De La Riva schools, one under a third-degree black belt with 7:00 mornings and a Saturday noon open mat printed on the grid.

  • Canoas & the metro towns 7 academies

    Canoas, Alvorada, Esteio and Novo Hamburgo — two Guigo rooms with a free first class («Marcar aula gratuita», one open seven days), and Pulga BJJ's 300-student mat with its full published timetable.
