Learning jiu-jitsu in south Mexico City
This guide covers the south — Coyoacán, Tlalpan and Xochimilco: 10 rooms recorded from Campestre Churubusco and the Avenida Universidad corridor out to the Pedregal in Tlalpan and Tulyehualco in Xochimilco, 6 of them with full entries. The south holds the city's cheapest published way in. Defiant Jiu-Jitsu, in the Ajusco pedregal, publishes what nothing on the central spine does: 'Clase ocasional · $100 por clase · Sin contratos. Sin mensualidades. Solo pagas cuando entrenas' — with its standing 'tarifa' at $110 and $100 if you pay on the day, a $650 month covering eight classes across five weeks, a free first week, and in its own words no inscription or membership fee at all. Free Wolves in Copilco, a Krav Maga house with a real jiu-jitsu line, publishes the area's second complete sheet: a free 'Clase de Muestra', $900 a month for two days a week, $1,200 unlimited across three disciplines, and a one-time 'Inscripción única' of $500 with a shirt included. Three of the six full entries share one address — Avenida Universidad 1861 and 1815 in Copilco hold Free Wolves and both venues of a judo club's grappling programme, so a single block here carries more published mat time than some whole alcaldías. One finding belongs here rather than in the price list: the large international networks' own locators carry no room in this capital at all, and two smaller associations each carry exactly one — Icon Jiu-Jitsu's own platform lists its México room by name, and it is the only surface that does. Its street is disputed: the network writes one address, both federation registries write another, and until a third surface settles it we publish the zone and not the street. For someone just starting, the real question is not "which academy is best" but "which one fits me."

Boz Fight Club MMA — Tasqueña branch
Who this academy suits
The branch to choose from this house if jiu-jitsu is the reason you are going. Boz Fight Club is an independent MMA gym with two rooms, and its own timetable gives Tasqueña four jiu-jitsu nights a week — Monday to Thursday at 7pm — against three at Marina, with Friday evening given to muay thai and mornings reserved for striking and MMA. The mat is at Cda. de las Torres 6 in Campestre Churubusco, Coyoacán, near Metro Tasqueña, and the published way in is the house's own 'TOMA TU CLASE MUESTRA', a sample class booked through the site's form or by phone. Two practical notes: no price is published anywhere on the site for either branch, so ask; and the site's WhatsApp button carries a US country code by mistake, so use one of the two Mexican numbers — 56 3000 2524 or 55 7947 6359. No instructor is reliably named for this branch (the staff block still carries an unfilled 'Profesor BJJ 2' placeholder), so ask who teaches the evening you plan to attend. A fit for a beginner in the south who wants jiu-jitsu most nights of the week inside a working MMA gym
Why we say it: The street, timetable, trial call, both phone numbers and the email are the house's own site — bozfightclubmma.com and its /info/horarios page, read 2026-08-16 (robots.txt 0 bytes, default allow). The trial form was read, never submitted. The site-wide defects (US-country-code WhatsApp link, untranslated English template block, 'Profesor BJJ 2' placeholder) were recorded at the Marina row in wave 1 and are unchanged; they are properties of one site and apply here too. No price is claimed because none is published for either branch

Defiant Jiu Jitsu — a non-profit founded in 2019 that publishes its address, schedule, full price sheet, coach and a detailed FAQ on its own site
Who this academy suits
The clearest answer in Mexico City to a beginner's actual first question — what will this cost, and can I just come twice a week? Defiant trains Tuesday and Thursday on a terrace inside a karate dojo in Pedregal de San Nicolás, Tlalpan: 19:00 technique for early arrivals, then 19:30–21:00 no-gi with rolling, a class the room itself marks suitable for beginners. The first week is free ('Prueba Jiu-Jitsu gratis durante una semana, sin compromiso'); after that the published rate is $100 MXN a class paid on the day, or $650 a month for eight classes to use within five weeks — with no sign-up fee, no membership fee and free belt promotions, all in the room's own words. That $100 is the cheapest published single visit in this corpus. Two things to know: it is 13-and-up only, and gi sessions run roughly every four to six weeks, so in practice it is a no-gi room. It is also unusually candid — it publishes its reason for staying independent, and it publishes that the coach's black belt comes from its own organisation. A fit for a beginner in the southern alcaldías who wants two fixed evenings, no contract and no gi to buy
Why we say it: Everything above is the room's own site — www.jiujitsuajusco.com, its home, /preguntas and /sobre-nosotros pages, read 2026-08-16 (apex 307s to www; the www robots.txt serves an HTML 404 shell, so no directives, default allow). Schedule, price sheet, free week, coach and independence statement are all served in the page; the contact form was read, never submitted. The room has zero presence on either federation platform — recorded as an evidence fact, not a doubt. defiantjiujitsu.com was probed and rejected on the country check as a Minnesota academy. The room's own sentence about franchise 'McDojos' is recorded as a statement about itself and never repeated as a claim about other academies

A 'Mensualidad' is $650 a month for eight classes to use within five weeks. In its own words: no sign-up fee, no membership fee, free belt promotions, no hidden costs. At $100 this is the cheapest published paid single visit anywhere in this corpus

Free Wolves Jiu Jitsu — its own site publishes address, full weekly timetable, price sheet, class cap and a free-trial offer
Who this academy suits
A Krav Maga house in Copilco that runs a real jiu-jitsu programme three evenings a week and publishes more of what a beginner needs than almost anything else in the south — including two things nobody else here publishes. The first is the cap: ten places per class, stated on the room's own page. The second is a full price sheet — $900 a month for two days a week in one discipline, $1,000 for students with everything included, $1,200 for an unlimited month covering jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga and wrestling, plus a one-off $500 joining fee that includes the shirt, 20% off if you sign up online, and 15% or 22% off for paying six or twelve months ahead. The jiu-jitsu is Monday in the gi at 19:00, Tuesday no-gi at 20:00 and Friday at 20:00, and the room says plainly you can start without buying a gi. The first class is free. Two practical notes: the mat is on the second floor at Avenida Universidad 1861, a door a judo team's grappling programme also uses on other nights, so say which class you have come for; and the site's footer disagrees with its own timetable by half an hour. A fit for a beginner in Copilco or Coyoacán who wants a small class, a published price and no gi to buy on day one
Why we say it: Everything above is the room's own site — www.freewolves.mx, its home, /jiu-jitsu, /horarios-y-contacto, /promociones, /preguntas-y-respuestas and /nosotros pages, read 2026-08-16 (the www robots.txt returns an HTML 404 shell: no directives, default allow). Timetable, price sheet, class cap, postal code and free-class offer are served in the page; forms read, never submitted. The phone is confirmed against SC 76975, read the same day with crawl-delay honored, and that match is what ties the registration to this room. §8.7 is discharged in the fit: the primary art is named from the room's own grid and the jiu-jitsu is evidenced by a page with its own argument. The address shared with the JudoCTJ programme is recorded and deliberately not merged — both publish it independently

JudoCTJ México at Il Shim Universidad — the same judo team's evening grappling class, hosted inside a taekwondo school
Who this academy suits
The evening half of a judo team's grappling week, on the second floor of a taekwondo school on Avenida Universidad — and the honest headline is the same as at its sister venue: this is a judo house, not a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy. The team publishes what it teaches in its own words, including 'Clases de Grappling NoGi ( Judo / Jiu-Jitsu Brasileño )', and here that class runs Tuesday 20:00–21:30 and Friday 19:30–21:00. If mornings suit you better the same team teaches the same class at Toa MMA further down the avenue; one WhatsApp number, 55 1298 8935, covers both. No belt system, no BJJ lineage, no trial offer and no price is published anywhere on the site. One local curiosity worth knowing: a Krav Maga house, Free Wolves, publishes the same street and floor as its own address and teaches its own jiu-jitsu there — same door, different operations, so say who you have come to train with. A fit for someone in Copilco or Coyoacán who wants two fixed evenings of no-gi and understands they will train with judoka
Why we say it: Everything above is the programme's own domain, judomexico.com.mx, read across four pages on 2026-08-16 (robots open). The venue address, the two class times and the discipline label are served in the page; the contact form was read, never submitted. The postal code for this door comes from Free Wolves' own separate site, read the same day, and is attributed to it rather than presented as this operator's byte. The two operations are recorded as sharing a building and deliberately not merged; the third name in the venue label was not resolved to either, and kravmagaexperts.com was probed and rejected on the country check. JudoCTJ México at Toa MMA — a judo team's grappling programme hosted inside another gym, published on the team's own domain
Who this academy suits
A morning no-gi class taught by a judo team inside an MMA gym on Avenida Universidad — and the honest headline is that this is a judo house, not a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy. The team publishes exactly what it offers: traditional and sport judo, children's judo, self-defence, and 'Clases de Grappling NoGi ( Judo / Jiu-Jitsu Brasileño )'. Here that grappling class runs Tuesday and Thursday 08:00–09:00 and Saturday 07:00–08:30 — three sessions a week, all before work, which is rare in this city and is the real reason to consider it. No belt system, no BJJ lineage and no network is claimed anywhere on the site, and no trial or price is published: the way in is a WhatsApp message to 55 1298 8935. A fit for someone in the southern colonias who wants early grappling and understands they will train with judoka; a mismatch for a beginner specifically after a gi-based Brazilian jiu-jitsu programme
Why we say it: Everything above is the programme's own domain, judomexico.com.mx, read across four pages on 2026-08-16 (robots open). The venue address, the three class times and the discipline label are served in the page; the contact form was read, never submitted. The primary art is named from the operator's own enumeration rather than inferred. The host gym's registration, SC 79934, was read the same day with crawl-delay honored and is recorded as a venue record, not a second academy. The venue pages embed Instagram posts as blockquotes whose text is not mirrored into the served HTML — no request was made to instagram.com or its CDN

MD Self Defense Tlalpan Sur — carried on the chain's own school list as 'TLALPAN SUR', with two instructors, a phone and a venue
Who this academy suits
A chain mat inside a gym, and the room to pick from this network if you want two named instructors rather than a rota. Mexico City's largest domestic jiu-jitsu chain carries this branch on its own school list as 'Tlalpan Sur', taught by Salvador Escudero Casillas and Aline Prismo Machado, with a branch phone of its own — 55 1825 6059 — rather than the chain's switchboard. The address is the honest complication: the chain publishes the mat inside «Gimnasio Coyoacán» on Calle Cuauhtémoc in Col. Del Carmen, Coyoacán, while the branch's own federation registration puts it on Calle Otomíes in Pedregal de las Águilas, Tlalpan, about nine kilometres south. Both are in this part of the city and the chain's own channel is what is published above — but call first. Note also that the chain's free week is booked through a form listing five other branches and not this one, so what is published here is a trial class rather than a free week, and no price is published for this room at all. A fit for a beginner in the southern alcaldías who wants a curriculum chain and can settle address and cost in one phone call
Why we say it: The branch entry, its two instructors, its street and its phone are the chain's own school list (renzograciemexico.com/escuelas/, read 2026-08-16, robots open). The trial line and the five-branch free-week selector are the chain's own /semana_gratis/ page the same day; forms read, never submitted. The conflicting street is AJP 11577, read the same day with crawl-delay honored, and §12.R2 governs: the chain's own address publishes, the registry string is carried as a conflict, and the registry pin is geocoded from its own string rather than observed. No price or schedule is claimed — the chain scopes its own price and schedule layer to Polanco, Santa Fé and Condesa in its own words. The Instagram handle in the registry's website field was recorded as a link and never fetched
