Learning jiu-jitsu in west Mexico City
This guide covers the west — Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa and Santa Fe, plus the one Magdalena Contreras room that belongs to this catchment: 4 rooms recorded, and all 4 carry full entries, the only area in this city where that is true. ŌKAMI Combat Sports, on Calzada de los Leones in Las Águilas, publishes the fullest weekly timetable in the west and no price at all — its door is 'Agenda tu clase de muestra', the free first class. It is also one of only two rooms in this whole metro carried by an international association's own locator: the large networks' locators list no Mexico City room whatsoever, and two smaller associations each list exactly one. The other three doors belong to two chains. MD Self-Defense Academy runs Santa Fe and Pedregal, and both open through the chain's free week — 'Regístrate y obtén 5 clases gratuitas durante una semana completa' — while the chain publishes neither prices nor schedules for either room; it says so itself, scoping its own plan and timetable widgets to Polanco, Santa Fe and Condesa. Pedregal is the only jiu-jitsu room this research has found anywhere in La Magdalena Contreras: it sits on the western arc of Periférico where that alcaldía meets Álvaro Obregón, and it is filed here because the chain groups it with its own western branches on its own booking form. And The Klan's Umaah haus in Guadalupe Inn sits inside a 29-studio building whose credits — '$350 · 1 Clase · Vigencia 7 Dias' — are the building's product, not this mat's price. Ask the room, not the lobby. For someone just starting, the real question is not "which academy is best" but "which one fits me."

MD Self-Defense Academy Pedregal — published with its street on the chain's own free-week page and offered as one of five selectable branches on its sign-up form, though it does not appear on the chain's school list
Who this academy suits
The only jiu-jitsu room this research has found anywhere in La Magdalena Contreras, and it belongs to Mexico City's largest domestic chain. It sits at Anillo Periférico 3447 in San Jerónimo Lídice, on the western edge of the alcaldía where it meets Álvaro Obregón, and the way in is the chain's own free week: 'cinco clases gratuitas durante una semana completa', with Pedregal listed by name on the sign-up form's branch selector. That form is in fact the only place the chain publishes this branch — it does not appear on the school list where its other rooms do, which is a quirk of how this operator maintains its pages rather than anything about the mat. Set expectations accordingly: no instructor, no timetable and no price is published for this room anywhere, and the chain scopes its schedule and price portal, in its own words, to Polanco, Santa Fe and Condesa. The free week is the offer; everything else is a conversation. A fit for a beginner in the south-west who would otherwise have nothing within reach, and who is content to register first and ask the details after
Why we say it: The street and the branch's inclusion in the free-week product are the chain's own /semana_gratis/ page, read 2026-08-16 (robots open) — surfaced at wave 1 of this D2 pass and re-verified on the same channel at wave 2, which is the basis on which §12.R10 ratified the row. Forms read, never submitted. Its absence from /escuelas/ was confirmed by reading that page the same day and is recorded as an asymmetry in the chain's own publishing rather than a doubt. No instructor, price or schedule is claimed: the chain publishes none for this branch and scopes its own price and schedule layer to three other rooms in its own prose. The area seating is recorded openly as a filing decision — La Magdalena Contreras is named by none of the four ratified CDMX-proper area slugs

MD Self-Defense Academy Santa Fe — carried on the chain's own school list as one of its three Academias Matriz
Who this academy suits
The chain's westernmost room and one of only three it calls an Academia Matriz — which in its own words means it belongs to the Mario Delgado Team and is supervised personally by the founder, who it says teaches there in person several times a week. For a beginner in Santa Fe that is the practical difference between this and a satellite branch. The mat is at Calle 3 55 in Zedec Santa Fe, on the Álvaro Obregón side of the district, with a branch phone of its own, and the way in is the chain's free week — 'cinco clases gratuitas durante una semana completa' — with Santa Fé listed by name on the sign-up form. One honest limit: the timetable and prices for this room are served through a members' booking portal that requires a login, so this research cannot read them and does not guess. That is our limit, not the room's; ask when you register. A fit for a beginner working or living in Santa Fe who wants a curriculum chain with a genuine trial week and does not mind settling schedule and cost by phone
Why we say it: The street, branch phone, Academia Matriz status and free-week offer are the chain's own site — renzograciemexico.com/escuelas/ and /semana_gratis/, read 2026-08-16 (robots open). Forms read, never submitted. The unread layer is stated as ours and as a product fact: /horarios/ and /planes/ serve this branch as a Glofox iframe whose data endpoint returns 'The authentication token is empty' — an authentication gate behind an open robots file, recorded and not routed around. No instructor is published for this mat, so none is claimed. mdselfdefense.com was found by the brand-concatenation probe and recorded as an alias of the same operator, not a second channel

The Klan — Umaah haus, the operator's second venue, published by name with a street and phone on its own contact page. The building, UMAAH HAUS, calls itself Mexico City's first premium wellness centre
Who this academy suits
The Klan's second mat, inside a wellness building in Guadalupe Inn — and the room where the honest answer involves reading two price lists carefully. The academy publishes this venue by name on its own contact page, at Fernando M. Villalpando 98, on the same number it gives for its Del Valle room: +52 56 1370 1366. Its published first visit is a paid one, a single class at $350 MXN booked through its own 'Reservar' flow, with no free class or trial week offered anywhere on its site. The complication is that the building sells its own product at exactly the same figure — 'UMAAH PASS' credits, $350 for one class, valid seven days and usable across the twenty-nine studios inside — and those credits are the building's, not the academy's. Ask which one you are buying. Two more things to settle before you go: the academy publishes no class timetable for either venue, and the building's own studio directory does not list The Klan at all, so message the number above and confirm the class you want is running here. A fit for someone in Álvaro Obregón who is comfortable paying for a first class and prefers a well-appointed shared building to a standalone gym
Why we say it: The venue name, street and phone are the operator's own contact page, theklanbjj.com.mx/contacto/, read 2026-08-16 (robots open). The single-class price is the operator's own /comprar/ page the same day; its price page names no venue, and that limit is stated rather than hidden. The postal code and the building's credit tiers are umaah.mx, read the same day after its robots — the venue's channel, found by the brand-concatenation probe on the bare-brand plus local-TLD shape. The building's credits are recorded as the building's and never published as the academy's price. The venue's 29-studio directory was read in full and does not list The Klan; filed as a conflict rather than resolved. Booking and purchase flows were read, never submitted

- The published first visit is a paid one: a single class, '1 Clase', at $350 MXN from the operator's own price page, booked through its 'Reservar' / 'Comprar' flow. That page names no venue, so it covers the operation rather than this mat alone, and no free class or trial week is published anywhere on the site. Do not confuse it with the building's own product: UMAAH HAUS separately sells 'UMAAH PASS' credits at $350 for one class, valid seven days and usable across the 29 studios in the building. Same figure, different thing

ŌKAMI Combat Sports — its own site, rebuilt since our last pass, now publishes address, a full weekly timetable, staff and lineage. Use the www host; the bare apex fails certificate validation
Who this academy suits
The best-published jiu-jitsu week in the west of Mexico City, and the room to pick if you want to train before work. Ōkami's own timetable runs gi and no-gi across mornings and evenings — 07:00–10:00 blocks on four weekdays, a 10:00 no-gi on Wednesday and Friday, evening classes every weekday, and Saturday 09:30–11:00 open to both — with a children's programme from age four and Sunday off. It is the first Caio Terra Association affiliate in Mexico, confirmed on the association's own page as well as the room's, and taught by Jorge Pastor, published as a second-degree black belt under Caio Terra, a seven-time national champion and 2024 ADCC CDMX champion, alongside four named coaches. One mat detail worth noticing: Friday evening is given to a two-hour block the room labels 'C.L.A.', its constraints-led coaching method — a teaching approach with its own hour on the schedule rather than a line in marketing. The first class is free, booked over WhatsApp on 55 4352 0103. Two practical notes: no price is published anywhere on the site, so ask; and reach the site at www.okami.mx, since the bare domain is broken and the Caio Terra directory still lists an old phone number. A fit for a beginner in Álvaro Obregón who wants a real curriculum, morning options and a coach with a verifiable lineage
Why we say it: Everything above is the room's own site — www.okami.mx, its home, /about, /contact and /staff pages plus its sitemap, read 2026-08-16. Its robots.txt names ClaudeBot inside a 29-agent stacked group whose rules are the platform's standard path disallows, with no root disallow, so the site is open to this research; the apex's /lander failed certificate validation and validation was NOT overridden — the www host was reached by an ordinary redirect. The street is confirmed by AJP 4525 and SC 45901 (crawl-delay honored, same day) and by the Caio Terra Association's own affiliate page, which also supplies the network-side confirmation of the affiliation and the stale phone recorded as a conflict. WhatsApp funnels were read, never submitted. No price is claimed because none is published
