The decision, in short
If you may join: a free first trial by campaign, reserved on the official LINE with an online waiver; there is no rental gi, so come in metal-free sportswear. General membership is ¥11,000 a month tax included (a first-twenty campaign at ¥8,800 when read); a light plan of four sessions is ¥5,500 with ¥3,630 per extra session; a month joined part-way is charged in full. Joining requires the academy's designated gear and its sports insurance: the white-gi example totals ¥31,130 before dues (gi ¥18,700, belt ¥2,530, rash guard ¥7,700, insurance ¥2,200), ¥32,230 with a blue or black gi; experienced practitioners may use a gi they already own. A ¥2,200 system fee and ¥2,200 insurance recur yearly; enrolment and the first system fee were waived by campaign, and campaigns end.
If you are visiting: a visitor from another academy needs their own instructor's permission and must contact the room first; Newaza World Association members pay ¥1,100 a session; people not affiliated with any academy are not accepted as drop-ins. Classes run Monday and Thursday 20:00 to 22:00 with a published minute-by-minute session plan.
