The cheapest honest way into jiu-jitsu in Berlin, in a hall this club has occupied since 1950. Erster Berliner Judo-Club 1922 is what its name says — a judo association, the second-oldest in Germany by its own account — and since 2012 it has run Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a named programme of its own, `Bulldog BJJ`, with its own page beside judo and ju-jutsu. It writes out the distinction that trips up half of German martial-arts listings: BJJ is the Brazilian variant of traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu, focused on the ground, with standing throws taught alongside. The coach is Benedikt Schwehn, published by the club as a first-degree black belt; no grantor is named, so read that as the club's statement about its coach rather than a verified lineage. The money is the headline and it is not a typo: 13,50 € a month, the same for every age group, covering everything the club offers. There is a one-off 20 € joining contribution, four weeks of free trial training first, and a discount to eleven months if you pay the year by 10 January. The most expensive room in this city charges fifteen times as much. One thing to get from the club before you go: the days. Kampfkunstschule Neukölln is a small commercial martial-arts school in a Reuterkiez courtyard — Hobrechtstraße 31, second rear building, left staircase — teaching Brazilian jiu-jitsu twice a week: Tuesday 20:00–21:15 and Friday 19:30–21:00, 75 to 90 minutes, from age 14. The catch is navigational, not substantive: the timetable on its homepage lists the school's five other arts and leaves BJJ out, and the BJJ page is linked from nowhere in the menu. The class is real; the signage is not. What the school does publish about it is unusually practical: three trial sessions, free, in its own words — worth knowing, because in Berlin a `Probetraining` is often sold rather than given. Membership from 45 € a month, covering once or twice a week. Four to twelve people a session, which the school states as its normal size rather than as a limit you must clear. And a straight answer about difficulty that most rooms do not give — the technique portion suits more or less any fitness level, and only the optional last part, free rolling, is genuinely demanding. Bring tear-resistant kit, a rashguard and sturdy trousers. Two honest limits: no BJJ coach is profiled anywhere on the site (the trainer page promises one in its heading, then profiles boxing, aikido and tai chi), so there is no belt or lineage to look at; and the house rents its rooms to other operators, so not everything at that address is this school's. The big-gym answer at Rathaus Neukölln. T9's Kampfsport studio sits at Rollbergstraße 2-8 in 12053, a minute from the U-Bahn, and lists BJJ alongside boxing, kickboxing and MMA for children and adults on a proper programme page — address, hours and prices in one place. The building is open 07:00–23:00 on weekdays and 09:00–20:00 at weekends, a real advantage over the association rooms here that open one or two evenings a week. Membership covers everything the house does: all martial-arts classes, two dojos over 400 m², an actual MMA cage, a 2000 m² gym floor, and — the German commercial flourish — unlimited solarium, unlimited drinks and two and a half hours of free parking. From sixteen it is 69,90 € a month on a one-year term or 99,90 € month-to-month; under sixteen, 49,90 € and 99,90 €. No joining fee is published anywhere, which is unusual here, and there is a two-week free trial the operator does not bother to name — `Jetzt 2 Wochen gratis testen`, through its own online contract. Two things to establish first: the weekly timetable is offered only as a download, so no BJJ class time is published in text and you will need the Kursplan — that gap is ours, not theirs; and no BJJ coach is named and no belt appears anywhere, so what is evidenced is a programme, not a lineage. Read what this is before planning around it. Flow Motion Studio is a movement and acroyoga studio with three Berlin sites, and it is not a jiu-jitsu academy: no belt system, no gi, no lineage, no published rolling. What it does run, in its own words, are two weekly self-defense classes built on Brazilian jiu-jitsu fundamentals — and the one at the Neukölln site, Glasower Straße 60, is `Self-Defense for Women`, Saturday 10:00–11:00, open level, described as a women-only course using BJJ fundamentals for real situations where technique beats force. The mixed version, `Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense` on Friday evening, runs at the studio's other mat — Schwedenstraße 14 in Wedding, across the city in Bezirk Mitte — not at the Neukölln one. For the right person it is an unusually low-friction first contact with the material: a single class is 16 €, the cheapest single visit recorded anywhere in this city; every adult class is offered as a drop-in; booking is recommended rather than required; and a 39 € card buys any three classes if one hour is not enough to decide. Classes are taught in English with German translation available, and both BJJ-fundamentals classes are separately marked as also running in German — which makes this one of the easier doors in Berlin for someone who has neither language fully. Two practical notes: the Neukölln studio is on the third floor of building 1 inside a commercial courtyard entered by the big gate on Glasower or Juliusstraße, and if the gate is shut you are meant to phone; and the studio rents its mat to other operators, so not every class on that timetable is theirs.
