The decision, in short
If you may join: one free introductory class, booked ahead by phone or text, with no residency condition. Adults pay $225 a month with no contract, cancellation any time by e-mail, transferable never-expiring payments and unlimited freezes.
If you are visiting: there are no drop-ins after the introductory class, stated twice. Nine grappling sessions a week on an undated table; the page no longer says gi or no-gi, so pack for either.

Who this academy suits
A beginner staying uptown: the only adult mat above 86th on the west side, and the room that publishes everything others hide. No gi or no-gi label any more — pack for either. One free class, then membership or nothing
Why we say it: The site publishes price, ranks with promoting professors, and a schedule table that was dated and widget-verified on the sweep day (verified 2026-07-28/29) but is undated and unlabelled for gi or no-gi at the 2026-09-23 re-read
The intimidated beginner: a dozen to a class, seniors who walk you through the basics, open mats after every session, and an explicit inclusivity commitment
Why we say it: The adult-BJJ page publishes all four statements verbatim (verified 2026-07-28)
