Who this academy suits
The room in Lichtenberg with the widest week and the lowest bar to walking in once. BIWA runs Monday to Saturday with an unusual shape for Berlin: midday sparring on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a Saturday lunchtime open mat, three evening all-levels gi classes, a no-gi class, a women's class, kids twice a week, and three evening open mats — a lot of mat time for a small school. It sells a single visit rather than giving one away: 15 € to drop in, 10 € for the women's class, and a gi for rent at 10 € if you arrived without one, so you can try it properly for twenty-five euros and no commitment. Membership is 80 €/month for adults, 60 € for students and teenagers, 50 € for children, cancellable monthly with four weeks' notice, and women get half off for the first three months. The site is written in English throughout with a German version behind it. The head coach is published as Professor Gabriel Marcel, born in Quito, training since 2010, with two IBJJF titles listed and a black belt the room states he earned after fourteen years — no grantor is named, so read the belt as the room's own account. One practical caution, and it matters: the club publishes no training address on its own site. The mat is listed at Coppistraße 17 in Lichtenberg by two independent directories, and the address in its own legal notice is a business address in Friedrichshain, not a gym. Phone or e-mail before you travel
Why we say it: The schedule, prices, drop-in rates, gi rental, coach biography and competition record, house rules, phone and e-mail are the room's own channel, biwa.life, read 2026-08-17. The price and drop-in figures are byte-identical to the D1 record, so nothing decayed between reads. The address is NOT the operator's: it comes from the competition platform and a corporate-sports aggregator, and publishes under the standing found-listed-address decision with the operator's silence stated alongside. Its attribution to this row rather than to Fightzone, which registers at the same street, rests on Fightzone's own channel disowning that door. The head coach's black belt is published with no grantor, so the belt is reported as the room's own statement and no lineage is carried
